Regularly JCIL, with our consumers, meet with our state senator and representatives to discuss the devastating effect the health care cutbacks are having on people with disabilities in Tennessee. Other agencies, such as Family Support and the Tennessee Health Care Campaign, were invited to participate in these meetings. The outcome of these efforts (and the efforts of other CILs involved in other events in the state) was that the legislature restored more than twenty-five million in funding to the state's health care program. This provided health care to thousands of people who had been cut off.
