Telecom Pioneers volunteered to plant flowers and maintain the flower garden for the Jackson Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Jackson Center for Independent Living. Our building was in need of beautification and the Telecom Pioneers Linda Brumley, Dottie Dorris and Anne Dowdy planted hundreds of varieties of blooming plants. The plants not only brighten up our location but they also brighten up the lives of our clients who come to our building in need of assistance. Our clients always stop to look at the flowers and their children laugh as the butterflies flutter around them. This wonderful gift of beauty for our chapter also helps the environment. Where there was once dirt patches is now a home of vital insects and a wonderful array of flowers.

Telecom Pioneers worked several hours on the project and they continue to fulfill the mission of service to their community by maintaining the garden. They accomplished this through donation of supplies from the community and their volunteerism.

The five bed flower garden is 200 feet long and 11 feet wide and is located in front of the Jackson Area Chapter building which is shared by the Jackson Center for Independent Living. JCIL is an agency that provides services designed to assist persons with disabilities. The flower garden provides a beautiful respite for both of our organizations.

On behalf of the volunteers, staff and clients of the American Red Cross, thank you for giving us a gift of joy and beauty and for our continued relationship with the Telecom Pioneers.

With warmest regards,
Jackson Area Chapter, American Red Cross &
Jackson Center for Independent Living
