Hey, Jackson had another 4th of July. It happened at the fair grounds as the JACKSON CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING celebrated the 11th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act Thursday, July 26 from 4 til 8 pm.

Over 25 EXHIBITORS came from across the state and as far away as Texas. Peole learned to use the voting machine and even registered to vote at the JCIL DEAF SERVICES booth. Alan Flewitt, Director of ANGEL FLIGHT, was one of our many United Way partners attending.

For the kids we had the Dandee Jumper, face painting and animal balloons. Sandy McDiamiad with Recreation and Parks also be set up an art table for the children and Ron Taye did facing painting.

PRESENTERS included Trish Farmer speaking on the ADA and workers comp issues.

Music was provided by Alex Harvey of Delta Dawn fame, the Hard Time Blues Band, the STAR Chimes and Rosie Robinson.

The silent auction with over 150 high quality lighting fixtures, mirrors and pictures donated to JCIL by MADISON LIGHTING brought in over $2,000.

We couldn't have another 4th of July (aka July 26) without BAR-B-Q and we had the best - REGGIE'S BAR-B-Q!

WNWS 101.5 FM PRIME TIME DRIVE with Steve Bowers was broadcasting live from the fair grounds from 3 to 5 PM Thursday to help JCIL celebrate the 4th, again!
